Receipt for Mr Patrick Campbell from William Crooke for photographs and goods including,"Leather & velvet miniature frame". Dated Jan.30th 1899 and signed by Crooke. William Crooke was born in Ireland in 1853. He had a studio at 103, Princes Street from 1884-1914 where he was an early enthusiast of the platinotype process and a member of the Edinburgh Photographic Society from 1881. He died in 1928 but his name was used for the business until 1930, ending up at 42, Frederick Street after being based at 79, Princes Street from 1925-29.(Scottish Studio Photographers up to 1914 by D.R.Torrance,2011).
